The trials and tribulations of recruiting in Mid Wales
Cyber Essentials is a government scheme aimed at strengthening IT security in companies of all sizes, allowing organisations to become certified and demonstrating to customers and business partners that cyber security is taken seriously.
Exciting times ahead with new director appointed!
With a mild, temperate climate, rolling hills and post card vistas, Rural Mid Wales is an easy-sell for advertising executives with a focus on tourism. However, to small fast-growth businesses in Powys, these wonderful USP’s are not manifesting into an influx of job applications.
What to consider when choosing your IT provider
Following the last few years of success and growth, founding directors Mike and Kat recognise that this outcome has been largely due to dedication and commitment from all of its employees and in particular, our long serving IT Engineer, Huw Jones.
COMMOTION - First networking event announced.
We understand that our potential customers are faced with a huge task when trying to decide on an IT Support Company. There are so many to choose from and services offered as well as cost can vary widely, so how do you know which is best for you?
Unify Your Airwaves!
We are delighted to introduce a rural networking group for local businesses in Mid Wales.
Wi-Fi is fantastic…when it’s properly implemented! The rest of the time it can be a right headache. At 5C, we have seen our fair share of problems.
Puffin had a number of IT infrastructure issues that needed resolving during an initial project in early 2016. We now provide system maintenance and upgrades via a IT Support contract.
A day in the life of…
Station Couriers had a dated email system that needed to be replaced with an up to date cloud hosted package and security system. 5C were contracted to carry out the setup procedure and Implement a robust backup solution.
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS)
"To most we’re just a faceless voice on the end of the phone, there to (hopefully) be their knights in shining armour and to fix all of their IT woes."
Sam Cook gives us an insight into the working day of a 5c Services Engineer.
Kat takes on a new role to inspire future entrepreneurs
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) had taken the decision to upgrade their ageing server and network infrastructure to a modern virtual server environment with redundancy and increased network speeds.
Last year I came across a great programme called Big ideas Wales and was impressed with what the project was about. I was instantly hooked and proceeded to look into how I could get involved.
Our long standing client, Field Options required technical assistance during their office move. During the process we agreed on network point locations required for IT & telecoms equipment as well as key locations for required wireless coverage.
The Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre (MFCC) needed an upgrade to their IT system to improve performance and resilience.
The Antivirus conundrum
The Gliffaes hotel had a requirement to upgrade their wireless infrastructure and increase the range of their Wireless network to provide coverage to nearly every room in the hotel.
Going after the big fish…
We’ve all heard it before “make sure your antivirus is up to date!” or “Oh… you use THAT Antivirus?! I think the one I use is so much better…” so how do we know what product to choose to defend ourselves against all of those virtual-nastys looming around in the big-wide-world-web?
Celebrating 12 years in business
Here at 5C we’re constantly battling the forces of unwanted spam, malware and virus attacks.
We ensure that the latest in hardware and software protection is in place for our customers but the ‘bad guys’ on the other side are working just as hard to break through.
Head in the Clouds....
Wow it’s hard to believe it’s been 12 years since 5c Services was launched (well grey shows it but Mike and Kat are still married so can’t all be that bad).
It’s a title you expect to associate with words like day-dreaming, fantasy, fiction....
But Cloud Computing is not any of these words.
(Not-so) Superfast fibre rollout?
Beacon Foods required robust IT systems to support their expanding business with customised SLA's to suit their around the clock requirements.
And so circa 2011 Superfast Fibre broadband was beginning to roll out to homes and business at an affordable rate. But it didn’t and is still isn’t going smoothly, especially for rural locations.
