To back up? or not to backup?...
Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM)
“I’m covered, we backup all of our key data to the cloud, covering us in the event of a disaster or system failure”.
It’s an answer we hear a lot but we sometimes its best to re-ask the question:
“In the event of disaster or complete server(s) failure how long can your company be down for?”
Want things secure? - mess it up!
No one enjoys juggling multiple pieces of software. RMM gives us a comprehensive set of tools to efficiently secure, maintain, and improve IT in a single dashboard.
Summer months at 5c
It doesn’t matter how small or big your business is it is essential to keep your data safe, and we would like to remind you all on how crucial this may be to you or your business.
There is often a miss-representation when it comes to working in an IT office that we’re all sat in darkened offices with blacked out windows frantically tapping away at keyboards, and we all have an intolerance to the summer sun.
What is VoIP, can it save me money?
Guess what the topic has been for the last few months?
The Great Office Reshuffle
The method of VoIP is not new, for years people have been making voice calls over the internet but still assume that office phone systems should remain on ISDN connections.
Winter is coming...
It was the famous philosopher Taylor Swift that said “This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change” and although we got the ‘new year’ bit wrong we, at 5c Services decided to redesign and update the 5c Services office.
Network Cabling: all you need to know
The garden furniture is being packed away, the factor 50 sun tan lotion is being put into the drawer and those linen shorts that you were told made you look ‘young and cool’ are being firmly put back into the cupboard, so you know, that winter is coming.
Structured cabling design and installation is governed by a set of standards that specify wiring for data or voice communications using various kinds of cable, most commonly category 5e (Cat5e), category 6 (Cat6/6a), and fibre optic cabling and modular connectors.
The trials and tribulations of recruiting in Mid Wales
Cyber Essentials is a government scheme aimed at strengthening IT security in companies of all sizes, allowing organisations to become certified and demonstrating to customers and business partners that cyber security is taken seriously.
What to consider when choosing your IT provider
With a mild, temperate climate, rolling hills and post card vistas, Rural Mid Wales is an easy-sell for advertising executives with a focus on tourism. However, to small fast-growth businesses in Powys, these wonderful USP’s are not manifesting into an influx of job applications.
Unify Your Airwaves!
We understand that our potential customers are faced with a huge task when trying to decide on an IT Support Company. There are so many to choose from and services offered as well as cost can vary widely, so how do you know which is best for you?
A day in the life of…
Wi-Fi is fantastic…when it’s properly implemented! The rest of the time it can be a right headache. At 5C, we have seen our fair share of problems.
The Antivirus conundrum
"To most we’re just a faceless voice on the end of the phone, there to (hopefully) be their knights in shining armour and to fix all of their IT woes."
Sam Cook gives us an insight into the working day of a 5c Services Engineer.
Going after the big fish…
We’ve all heard it before “make sure your antivirus is up to date!” or “Oh… you use THAT Antivirus?! I think the one I use is so much better…” so how do we know what product to choose to defend ourselves against all of those virtual-nastys looming around in the big-wide-world-web?
Head in the Clouds....
Here at 5C we’re constantly battling the forces of unwanted spam, malware and virus attacks.
We ensure that the latest in hardware and software protection is in place for our customers but the ‘bad guys’ on the other side are working just as hard to break through.
(Not-so) Superfast fibre rollout?
It’s a title you expect to associate with words like day-dreaming, fantasy, fiction....
But Cloud Computing is not any of these words.
And so circa 2011 Superfast Fibre broadband was beginning to roll out to homes and business at an affordable rate. But it didn’t and is still isn’t going smoothly, especially for rural locations.
So I’ve often remained wide awake at night running through the worst case scenario of what would happen if I lost all of my data.
